What to Send Up When It Goes Down is a play-pageant-ritual-homegoing celebration in response to the physical and spiritual deaths of black people due to racialized violence. Through parody, song, language and movement, the piece centers black responses to racism while making room for audience participation. What to Send Up… offers neither answers nor directives, serving instead as a space for catharsis, reflection and cleansing.
